To maximize the number of embryos available for PGD testing, your ovaries are stimulated using carefully dosed hormonal injections (gonadotropins) over 10–14 days. Our team monitors follicle development through regular ultrasound scans and blood hormone tests, adjusting dosages to ensure optimal response while minimizing risks like ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).
Duration: 10–14 Days
Once follicles reach optimal maturity (typically 18–20mm), a trigger injection is given. Approximately 36 hours later, a minimally invasive egg retrieval procedure is performed under light sedation. Using ultrasound guidance, our specialist carefully retrieves mature eggs from the ovarian follicles. The procedure takes 20–30 minutes and is performed at our clinic in Gulberg, Lahore.
Duration: 30 Minutes – Day Procedure
The retrieved eggs are fertilized in our advanced embryology laboratory using ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) – where a single healthy sperm is injected directly into each mature egg. ICSI is the preferred method for PGD cycles as it ensures controlled, high-quality fertilization. Fertilized eggs are then cultured in incubators under precise temperature and atmospheric conditions.
Duration: Day 1 of Embryo Development
Embryos are cultured in our laboratory for 5–6 days until they reach the blastocyst stage – a more developed stage with 100–150 cells. Blastocyst-stage embryos provide significantly better implantation rates and the optimal cellular material for accurate PGD biopsy. This is the core of PGD. Our embryologist performs a precision biopsy, removing 5–8 cells from the blastocyst’s outer layer without harming the embryo. Duration: Day 5–6 (Biopsy) + 7–10 Days for Results

The selected healthy embryo of your desired gender is transferred into the uterus in a simple, pain-free procedure – no general anesthesia required. This takes 10–15 minutes. A beta-hCG blood pregnancy test is performed approximately 10–14 days after transfer to confirm successful implantation.
